COMPANY DETAILS:

Our client is a globally active Italian company specialising in the design and production of cutting-edge 3D printing systems. As they continue to expand, they are looking for a Senior Specialist in Optical Laser Applications to join their team and lead innovation in laser optical systems.

JOB DETAILS:

This is a hands-on, technical role focused on optics, laser power and the optical components of lasers used in 3D printing applications. As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for optics in the company, you will be responsible for designing, optimising, and troubleshooting laser optical systems. You will work on improving efficiency, resolving issues, and ensuring the seamless integration of laser systems into production machines. This position will report to the R&D Department and collaborate closely with a team of engineers and specialists to drive continual innovation.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Lead the design and development of laser optical systems, with a focus on optics, laser power distances, and optical components
  • Troubleshoot, optimise, and redesign optical systems to resolve issues and improve efficiency
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for optics within the company, providing guidance and expertise to cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with R&D to integrate laser optical systems into production machines and ensure high precision
  • Define and implement quality control and testing standards for laser optical systems
  • Conduct hands-on work in the lab to test, refine, and optimise systems for greater performance
  • Ensure the efficient operation and continuous improvement of laser optical systems

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, or a related field
  • Extensive hands-on experience in the design, optimisation, and troubleshooting of laser optical systems
  • Proven ability to resolve technical issues, redesign systems, and optimise for efficiency
  • Experience with laser scanning systems and optical laboratory instrumentation
  • Strong research-driven approach with a focus on practical, hands-on problem-solving
  • Fluency in English
  • Basic knowledge of C#, Python, MatLab, or Go programming
  • Ability to work autonomously and lead projects with precision and efficiency
